|Governor's Scholars Program applications now available|
Pendleton Co. High School announces the school wide competition for the 2013 Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program.
The Governor's Scholars Program is a stimulating, five-week residential summer program for outstanding Kentucky students completing their junior year in high school. Established in 1983, the popular program provides academic and personal growth in a challenging, non-tradional experience that balances a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life.
The Governor's Scholar Program competition is open to all juniors. It is highly competitive in nature and involves a lenghty application process. The students are selected based on multible criteria that include academic record, ACT or PSAT test scores, personal essay and leadership proposal, student resume that includes activities as well as demonstrated leadership and service.
While not a scholarship program, many universities and colleges across the state recognize the significance of participation in this program and provide special scholarship opportunities to students who have completed the Governor's Scholarship Program. For more information, go to www.gsp.ky.gov
Specific application information for Pendleton County High School juniors in now available in the guidance office. The deadline for return of completed application is 4 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.
