|Troy Steele running for 3rd district school board|
I would like to announce my intention to seek the open school board position in the 3rd district. We all have seen our schools and county from different perspectives, depending on where we’ve lived and what our experiences have been. My viewpoint has been formed as a graduate, father of three, husband, businessman, and lifelong resident of Pendleton County.
I have witnessed both tragedies and successes in Pendleton County. I have seen our residents pull together in times of tragedy, most recently after losing my home in the March tornado. Friends, family, and people I had not met before showed up on my doorstep ready to lend a hand just to be of help. Now it is time to give back to the community that has given so unselfishly to me and my family. I feel I am well-suited and well-prepared to participate as an active and informed member of our school board.
In the last year I have attended school board meetings as a concerned parent and citizen. I am excited about the possibility of being able to participate as a school board member to weigh in on the important decisions that affect parents, taxpayers, and most importantly, the students who are the future of Pendleton County. Last year, I served as the president of the Pendleton County Boys Basketball Boosters. I have been involved as a parent supporter at numerous school-related events, including sports, band, and performing arts programs. I am an active member of Plum Creek Christian Church and I operate my own business in Pendleton County and surrounding areas.
It is important for school board members to be well-informed, dependable, available, open-minded and unafraid to ask tough questions and offer viable solutions to issues that arise. I want to ensure that decisions made are carefully considered and are in the best interest of all students. I want to know what is important to you. I will listen to you. When you elect me, I will work diligently for you and your children.
I humbly ask for your support in November. In the meantime, please spread the word to others in the 3rd district. I am ready to serve as your school board representative.
