Helen Booher, 94 Print E-mail

Helen McCarty Hancock Booher, 94, of Lexington passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born in Lenoxburg, Bracken County, to the late Eugene Bateman and the late Lexie Maltby McCarty Hancock; granddaughter of the late Charles Nicholas and Effie Yelton McCarty of Bracken County and wife of the late George William Booher of Falmouth. She was a graduate of Falmouth High School, Helen completed a BS degree at Cincinnati Bible Seminary and a BS degree in primary education from Wilmington College, Ohio. Helen actively participated in community organizations including the Daughters of the American Revolution where she was a 50 year member and, most recently, served as Chaplain of DAR Lexington Chapter.  She was a faithful member of Southland Christian Church where she enjoyed the friendship of her Christians-Out-Doing Class with whom she remained active to her final days.

Preceding her in death, in addition to parents, husband and grandparents, were brother, John Hancock of Alexandria and  sister, Genevieve Hancock Shonert of Falmouth.

Surviving are son, daughter, two grandsons, seven great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 17, 2012, at Southland Christian Church Chapel.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
