The 53rd family reunion of the descendants of Edward Harper took place on August 19, 2012.

This Year’s Harper Family Reunion President Amy McCall said that the venue of the event alternates between Kentucky and Indiana. Sunday before last a military stone was dedicated to Harper, who was a Civil War Union soldier. The ceremony was conducted at Mt. Vernon Cemetery by the Honor and Color Guard of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Members of the organization are not re-enactors, although they dress in post Civil War 1866 U.S. Army uniforms.
