|Civil War veteran's monument once again stands tall in family cemetery|

The six-foot-tall, one-hundred-year old tombstone of Pendleton County’s Wilson family was lifted and reassembled after tipping over many decades ago. The eldest Wilsons were enslaved in both Virginia and Kentucky, but never gave up their virtues of hard work and diligence, and soon afforded a small farm just southeast of Falmouth. They raised 13 children on the land where they are now buried. John Wilson, buried in the center of the cemetery, was a decorated Civil War veteran.
