Co-ed volleyball tournament success Print E-mail

By Bruce Reller, Jr., Reporter

Grassy Creek Christian Church held the Dale Kirsch Memorial Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, July 14. Eleven teams, including five Grassy Creek teams, participated in this year’s event.

Knoxville Christian Church won the tournament this year as they won the tiebreaker over two other teams. St. Timothy’s came in second, and Grassy Creek Patrick finished in third place.

All of the proceeds for the tournament went towards a new defibrillator for the Grassy Creek volleyball field and for the church too.

“We had a great turnout despite the rain and raised a lot of money for a good cause,” said Zach James, who was one of the event coordinators.

“All of the teams were great and I couldn’t have asked for a better tournament. I can’t wait to do it again next year,” James said.

Grassy Creek continues to do their Tuesday night volleyball league during the summer, and it is going well so far. There is plenty of exciting and fun volleyball taking place.

Also, there will be a 4-Man Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, September 15. Contact Zach James at 859-322-4910 or Tim Cordray at 859-468-8960 if you are interested in putting a team in.
