The butterflies took off the moment the plane touched down in Dallas.

It was an indescribable feeling. Excitement mixed with apprehension, with a touch of nervousness.

After 17 years of coaching on the youth, junior high, and high school level, Pendleton County Wildcats head soccer coach Lisa Feltner found herself without a game plan to go by, and no strategy in which she could employ.

Last March, she was invited by her employer to take part in coachingĀ  preliminary soccer scrimmages at the Special Olympics held in San Antonio, Texas. It was an experience unlike anything she would have ever imagined taking part in.

"I jumped on the opportunity right-away but I was so nervous," admitted Feltner. "I had nothing to really go by, no prior experience in working with athletes with disabilities, I didn't know what to expect."
