Bessie Sowder, 93 Print E-mail

Bessie Lee Wilson Sowder, 93, of Falmouth passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Grant Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Williamstown.

She was born in Tennessee on September 8, 1918, to the late Grover C. and Ruby Frady Wilson.  On May 18, 1946, she married Rev. James Allen Sowder and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1999. Formerly, she worked as a clerk for J C Penney.   Bessie was a homemaker and a member of the Turner Ridge Baptist Church, Pendleton County.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, were brother, John V. Wilson; and  sister, Naomi Dixon.

Surviving are sons, Jim (Sandy) Sowder, Forest Park, Ohio, Jerry (Vicki) Sowder, Walton and Terry (Joy) Sowder of Falmouth; sister, Gaila Edwards, Davenport, Iowa; brother, Powell Wilson, Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Tammy Corder, Michael Sowder, Brent Sowder and Brian (Janice) Sowder; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Corder; and a host of friends.

Funeral service were held Friday, July 6, 2012, with Bro. Dale Beighle officiating.

Serving as pallbearers were Brent Sowder, Brian Sowder, Tim Young, Randy Bastin, Barry Sorrell,   and Taylor Edwards. Special music was shared by Sandy Gabbard, Matt Sorrell, and Marie Young.

Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
