The Pendleton County High School Varsity cheerleaders began their competition season this past weekend with a full schedule. On Saturday, they competed in the Game Day Coed Division at NKCCA at Cooper High School and received first place in their division with a score of 96.30, beating Dayton with a score of 81.90. They also hit zero which means they had a zero-deduction routine!
Then on Sunday, they traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete at the UCA Ohio Regionals competition in the Small Varsity Coed Division. Here they also placed first in their division and qualified for a bid to Nationals based on their score of 91.90.
From Head Coach, Abby Belcher:
“I am extremely proud of this team’s first two performances and the drive to continue to put their very best on the mat. This year has been different preparing because we have several multiple sport athletes that we haven’t had at all of the practices leading up to these two competitions. Two of our athletes are on the boys’ soccer team, one on the football team, and one player on the volleyball team. We love our multi-sport athletes and truly appreciate all the extra work they put into making both sports work. On the other end, our other team members were patient with them in learning the material and positions which has helped the team bond even more this season.”
We hope that our Pendleton County community will help support this team as they go compete at the KHSAA REGIONALS competition this Saturday, November 5 at Tates Creek High School in Session 2 in the afternoon. The stakes are high as they fight to defend their title of 3X Regional Champs. LET’S GO CATS!”
