The Pendleton County Wildcats soccer team hosted a pair of contests with Holy Cross and Paris and were able to come away with one victory.

On August 29, the team battled Holy Cross and fell by a final score of 3-1. Pendleton County grabbed a first half lead as senior Chase Nichols found the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 lead with 25 minutes remaining before halftime. Five minutes later, Holy Cross would score to tie the game up. Both teams would produce numerous shots on goal but were not able to cash in and would remain tied at at half.

The second half would be dominated by Holy Cross as they quickly gained the lead with their second goal five minutes into the half. The Wildcats offense would be held in check for the duration of the contest and Holy Cross would add their third and final goal with two minutes left in the game en route to victory. Pendleton County goalkeeper Adam Beebe would record 28 saves in the loss.

On August 30, the Wildcats rebounded with a lopsided 11-1 victory over Paris. The 11 goals by Pendleton County would be the most the program has recorded in a single game since the 2013 team defeated St. Patrick, 12-2. The Wildcats scored early and often as Chase and Dawson Nichols scored two goals each in the first 30 minutes to give Pendleton County a 4-0 advantage. Brayden Tucker scored to make it a 5-0 lead and less than two minutes later, Chase Nichols completed a first half hat trick by netting his third goal of the game, and Dawson Nichols also added his third goal.

Pendleton County enjoyed a 6-0 lead as the second half got underway. Paris would score their lone goal with 24 minutes left in the game to avoid the shutout. The Wildcats would then end the night with four straight goals first by Tucker, his second of the game; Jonathan Roenker, and Jonathan Frisch adding the final two.

"We did some things well in this game that we've been doing during practice," said head coach Amber Nichols. "Our passing was better and guy's had better looking shot attempts. It would've been nice to get both wins at home but we have to continue to work hard and not allow ourselves to play to the level of our opponents," she added.

The Wildcats return to action on September 5 when they host Calvary Christian on "Senior Night". The program will honor the careers of Chase Nichols, Jonathan Roenker, John Wright and Hayden Thompson. On September 7, the team will travel to take on Bourbon County.
