Ladycats win silver division at Bracken invitational

Following the third week of the season, the Ladycats now sit at 5-3 as they head into the month of September. This past week, the team suffered a loss to the Walton-Verona Bearcats (24-26, 11-25, 18-25), but also picked up a win over the Dayton Lady Green Devils (25-11, 25-18).

In their loss to the Walton-Verona, sophomore Gracie Cotterman came ready to play and provided the team with five kills and five blocks. As a team, the Ladycats accumulated an impressive 40 digs; libero Madison Verst led the team with 20.

Despite their loss to the Bearcats two days prior, the Ladycats bounced back and captured their win over Dayton. The offense was almost evenly distributed; Skyla Harrison had five kills, Allison Aulick had six, and Kearstin Mayer had five. The defense was led by both Madison Verst and Skylar Harrison. Verst racked up 17 digs, and Harrison had 10. Allison Aulick also contributed five blocks in the win over the Lady Green Devils.

The team has several upcoming games that fans should be sure not to miss. You can catch the Ladycats back in action on Tuesday, September 5th at home when they take on the Cardinals of George Rogers Clark. The team will travel to Mt. Olivet on the 6th for their third district game of the season as they face the Robertson County Lady Devils. On September 7th, the Ladycats will return to their home court versus the Calvary Christian Lady Cougars. The team will then travel to Bracken County on September 9th to play in the Glacier Invitational where they will face Lloyd Memorial at 9 a.m., Grant County at 11:30 a.m., and Trinity Christian at 2 p.m. before they begin bracket play.
