Paul Edward DeWald, 91, of Alexandria, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ft. Thomas.  Born on July 10, 1932, in Southgate, KY, he was the son of the late Walter Frank DeWald and Mildred Enderlin DeWald.  

A Newport Catholic High School graduate, Paul attended the University of Cincinnati Business School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he specialized in sonar operations.  After his honorable discharge from the military, he worked for the United States Postal Service and General Electric, before joining Cincinnati Milacron as an electrical engineer. For 28 years, he managed various projects and worked on many teams, including serving as project manager in Robotic Systems for the five years prior to retirement. Paul was an avid fan of the KY Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds.  Near and dear to his heart was the music of his teenage years, the 1940’s Big Band Era.

He is survived by his wife Doris Jean Bailey DeWald of Alexandria; six children:  Ron DeWald of Lexington, Phillip (Nancy) DeWald and Marty (Jenny) DeWald, both of DeMossville, Charles DeWald of Ft. Thomas, Teresa (Rodney) Barnes of Alexandria, and Shelly Cobb of Cold Spring; 14 grandchildren:  Rachel DeWald, Cory DeWald, Megan DeWald Wood, Max DeWald, Mike DeWald, Jake DeWald, Nick DeWald, Maria DeWald, Christie Prince, Angela Barnes, Ashley Gosney, Jacob McClurg, Josh McClurg, and Ricky McAllister; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, his grandson Rodney Barnes, Jr., his daughter-in-law Susan Koeninger DeWald, his son-in-law Ronnie Cobb, and his sister Kathleen (Larry) Muldoon preceded him in death.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Jeremy Moore officiating.  

Interment took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger.
