Marilyn Frances “Frankie” Shields Gallagher, 82, of Sanford, FL, formerly of Falmouth, KY, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at her home.  Born on April 6, 1941, in Lexington, KY, she was one of six children born to the late John Thomas Shields and Margaret Lanter Shields Jenkins.  On February 7, 1958, she married Hansford “Hank” Gallagher, and her dear husband of 57 years preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2015.

In 1982, the Gallagher family moved to Florida, and with their entrepreneurial spirit, entered the restaurant business.  In 1984 they opened The Cattle Ranch Steakhouse, a local landmark celebrating 40 years of great food and southern hospitality from the entire Gallagher family on April 5, 2024.  The communities of Falmouth, KY and Sanford, FL, can attest to the fact that you only met Hank and Marilyn one time, and immediately you were family.   Always mindful of helping others, Marilyn was a phone call away with whatever you needed, served up with a huge helping of fun and laughter.  “Frankie” kept her family, friends, and patrons at the center of her life, and the memories of all her kindnesses will never be forgotten.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Vicki Bishop (Rick), Cindy Ammerman (Gil), and   Rhonda Tate (Billy); six grandchildren:  Ashley Bishop, Whitney Woodworth, Brentany Slaton (Damon), Kristin Weaver (Jarrod), David J. Gallagher (Kristin), and Haylee Gallagher; ten great-grandchildren:  Joseph, Isaac, Raelynn, Austin, Dylan, Elijah, Willow, Kai, Ivy, and Amaris; one sister Joyce Ann Coleman (Steve); two brothers:  Pete Shields (Mary Ann) and Johnny Shields (Kim); and a host of extended family and friends blessed to know and love her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded by her son David Hansford Gallagher on Jan. 20, 2023; and two sisters:  Patsy “Pat” Shields and Brenda Shields.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 18 at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with her nephew Ryan Shields officiating. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, preceding the service.

Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hope:  909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056.
