Joseph Louis Shafer, Jr. of Dry Ridge, KY was born Dec. 7, 1938 in Pendleton, Co. KY and died Wed. April 28, 2021 at Edgewood, KY at the age of 82.
He was the son of the late Joseph Lewis and Lucille Jacobs Shafer. He was a retired truck driver for Miami Margarine Co. of Cincinnati, OH, as well as a former driver for North Central Trucking and a former yardman for Duro Bag Co. and he was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. On March 9, 1985 he was united in marriage to his wife Elaine Justice Shafer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Shafer Paynter in 2017.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine Shafer of Dry Ridge; son Scott Joseph Shafer of Crittenden daughters, Debra Lynn Shafer of Crittenden and Ronnie Allen (Kevin) Courtney of Berry; grandchildren Robert (Mindy) Shafer, Joseph Allen Shafer, Sierra Brooke (Casey) Hardin, Kendra Laine Courtney, Seth Thomas Courtney, Luci Erica Shafer, and Emmy Suann Shafer; great-grandson Waylon Joseph Shafer; and sisters Shirley Wash of Owenton, Barbara Webster of Walton and Trudy Owens of San Leandro, CA.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Mt Carmel Baptist Church.
Interment took place in the church cemetery.
