Joseph Calvin Jennings, 77, of Alexandria, KY, took Jesus by the hand on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at The Seasons @ Alexandria. Born on June 11, 1944 at home in Burlington, KY, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Wanita See Renkvish. Joe earned his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati, while working at Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, OH, where he retired as a supervisor after 42 years. Joe was an avid golfer (having made two holes in one in his lifetime), a hunter, a fisherman, a gifted craftsman, a trusted friend, as well as an involved coach to many. At the heart of his life was his faith and family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Beverly Reynolds Jennings, his best friend of 58 years and trusted and faithful caregiver. They were married on December 15, 1962. Joe is also survived by five children: Kenneth Joseph (Djuna) Jennings of Raleigh, NC, Christopher John (Julie) Jennings and Amanda Susan (Mic) Cooney , both of Alexandria, Marcia Gail (Chris) Bertram of Cold Spring, and Barbara Marie (James) Soard of Hebron; 16 grandchildren blessed to have him as their “Opa”: Emily Jennings, Grace (Austin) Hinkel , Joseph Moreland Jennings, Jacob Jennings, Olivia Cooney, Sophia Cooney, Calvin Bertram, Alexander Bertram, Michael Cooney, Ella Cooney, Lydia Soard, Elliott Soard, Oliver Soard, Amelia Soard, Kaelin Kovacik, and Branden Kovacik; two brothers: James Jennings of Coeur d’Alene, ID and Robert Jennings of Oviedo, FL; and a host of extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8246 East Main Street, Alexandria, with Rev. Joseph Gallenstein officiating. The pallbearers will be his seven grandsons. The visitation will be from 10-12:00 pm preceding the mass at his church. Interment will take place in the St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria.
