John W. Mattingly, 71, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.
He was born in Butler, KY on January 16, 1951 son to the late Osborne and Hilda Harrison Mattingly. John was a member of Flagg Spring Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Squirrel hunting was his favorite. John was also an avid painter and always said he had painted most of Butler inside and out. He was a friend to many and will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers James, Osborne Jr. and Thomas Mattingly, sister Charlene, nephew Daniel Mattingly and niece Lynn Nagel.
Survivors include his siblings Rodney (Tammy) Mattingly, Edwin (the late Kathy) Bray; sisters Debra (the late Wayne) Bishop, Betty Smith, Linda (Carroll) Ferril, several nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at the Grandview Cemetery.
