Helen Pettit Hutchison, 97

Helen Pettit Hutchison, 97, passed away peacefully Monday, January 19, 2026, in Newnan, Georgia.

Born in Grants Lick, on September 13, 1928, she was the beloved daughter of the late Henry G. and Edna Harris Pettit.

A woman of deep faith and quiet resilience, Helen was defined by her devotion to her family and her passion for preserving the beauty of the past. Alongside her husband, she spent many years collecting antiques and restoring furniture. An avid genealogist, she took great pride in researching and documenting her family’s history for future generations. Helen was perhaps best known for her legendary celebration of Christmas; her home was filled with numerous uniquely decorated trees that brought joy to all who visited.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, P.A. Hutchison Jr.; brothers, Ralph, Henry, Raymond, James, and Cliston Pettit; sisters, Irene Mullins and Wilma Schroeder.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Ted) Weier, along with a host of family and friends.

Family and friends were invited to celebrate Helen’s life at Peoples Funeral Home, in Butler. A visitation was held Friday, January 2. The funeral service took place Saturday, January 24, followed by burial at Butler Cemetery.
