Mosaic artworks are some of the most beautiful creations. The way that light reflects off the broken pieces of glass… the colors…. they are incredible works of art. To create one of these mosaic masterpieces, the colored glass must be broken. Then the artist takes the broken pieces, arranges them carefully, and places the artwork in a strategic location so that the sun will hit it perfectly. We, as beholders of the mosaic, are then left with appreciation for the beauty of the broken.

Your life has been broken. Dreams of a future shattered. Life as you knew it destroyed. It seems like a complete mess. And in all honesty, it is. Grief is messy. But when you look at the shattered pieces of your life after grief, maybe the image of the mosaic can be encouraging to you. In the right time, with the Great Artist, those broken pieces can be arranged again. And when those broken pieces are placed in the Great Light, it can be a beautiful creation.

Sure, the picture isn’t like the original. Sure, there are pieces missing. Sure, there is still pain. But there’s also beauty in brokenness. Just ask the Artist of the mosaic. He sees it. And so do those…. who are finding healing out loud.
