Falmouth — Ernest Ray Richie, 88 of Falmouth passed away on August 1, 2025. Ernie was born on May 18, 1937, in Pendleton County, to Claude and Clara Richie.
Ernie graduated from Falmouth High School and served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. On September 3, 1959, Ernie married the love of his life, Margie (Carr) Richie with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage. Ernie was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He owned and operated R&R Blacktopping until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid fisherman, huge fan of UK basketball, played basketball for the Falmouth Red Devils (#22) was very patriotic and he loved his country.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his stepmother, Christine Richie; sister, Naomi Beatty; and brother, Ronnie Richie.
Surviving him are his beloved wife, Margie Richie; children, David (Dianne) Richie, Amy Barnes (Roger Schlueter); and sister, Carolyn Haley; grandchildren, Leeann Richie, Chris (Christy) Barnes, Peyton Barnes (Trent Turner); great-grandchildren, Kellen Barnes, Harper Barnes and Ellie Jo Turner.
Ernie was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind many other friends and family.
Visitation was held Monday, August 4, 2025, at Peoples Funeral Home, in Falmouth. Funeral will take place on August 5, 2025, from 12-2 p.m., with funeral beginning at 2 p.m.
Burial will take place at the Riverside Cemetery (where Ernie served on the board).
Memorial contributions may be made to Falmouth Baptist Church or the American Legion Hall.
