DORIS DEWALD
Doris Jean DeWald (nee: Bailey), 89, of Alexandria, KY, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. Born on April 6, 1934, in Corbin, KY, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Bailey.
Doris took care of her family in the early years and later worked for Miami Carey and Sears. She also developed properties and co-owned a Tool and Dye Distributing Company, providing parts for military and commercial aircraft.
Doris was an excellent artist. winning a competition from a magazine for her Christmas artwork. She loved to play cards and enjoyed hosting parties for New Years Eve. Doris was an avid antique collector and had many beautiful pieces she enjoyed.
She loved listening to the music of the 50’s and 60’s and dancing to it with her husband Paul. She was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Kentucky Wildcats. She also loved to bake.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Karen Gibson, sons, John (Sally) McAlister and Scott McAlister; grandchildren: Ricky McAlister, Cathy (Manny) Cardona, Johnie (Jenna) McAlister, Carleigh (Nav) Khatra, Max (Karen) Crudder, Emma Crudder, Maria DeWald, Jake DeWald, and Nick DeWald; great grandchildren: Jaxson McAlister, Bastian McAlister, Elora McAlister, and Victoria Cardona; and sister: Rita Harkey.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. DeWald; her brothers: Leon Bailey, Charles Bailey, Harold Bailey, and William Bailey; son-in-law Kenneth Gibson and daughter-in-law Janie McAlister.
Visitation will be held at Woodhead Funeral Homes, Memorials & Cremation Service, 310 W. Shelby St. Falmouth, KY 41040 on Tuesday, December 19th from 10-11 a.m. with procession to interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park: 3227 Dixie Highway Erlanger, KY 41018, immediately following.
