Students stock pantry

Northern and Southern elementary schools gathered nonperishable goods in December for the Family Resource and Youth Services Center at Pendleton County High School. In the friendly competition, Northern students brought in 1,153 items. Southern’s students did well for their first time participating in a food drive, bringing in 500 items. Northern Elementary’s Bobcat Council and Southern Elementary’s National Elementary Honor Society spearheaded the cause in each school. The groups created posters, counted goods daily and announced progress. On Jan. 16, they loaded, delivered and stocked the food. To celebrate, both groups of students were treated to ice cream sundaes, provided by the Honor Society.
