Mom, son work together for candle business

FALMOUTH — Ashley Cassidy likes her Primal Aroma & Company shop that she opened in downtown Falmouth at the end of October.

She said she enjoys making quality products with natural ingredients and the clientele she has met through her ventures.

But mostly, Cassidy loves working with her 15-year-old son, Wyatt, and watching him grow and thrive in this new business venture.

Cassidy began making soy candles alongside her mother in 2021, during the coronavirus pandemic. The duo would make products and sell them at local festivals and online.

But traveling is hard, and when the opportunity came up to rent a space in Falmouth, “we just went for it.”

Primal Aroma & Company, 121 W. Shelby St., offers candles, wax melts, lip balms, lotions, fabric sprays and soaps currently, but Cassidy said she is always exploring new possibilities.

The company’s mission is “to craft goods bringing clarity, comfort and usefulness in daily life,” she said. “We design for practical use and gifting, using honest materials focused on quality, simplicity and ease.”

The storefront has proven to be highly beneficial as it enables Cassidy to produce her products directly on site. Cassidy makes all the products and Wyatt does the marketing and maintains the social media pages.

“I have been sourcing textiles and other goods, trying to do things locally. Right now, local is within the United States,” she said.

The 2004 Pendleton County High School graduate is appreciative to her entire family for the support they have given her in getting the brick-and-mortar business off the ground.

Store hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Primal Aroma has a Facebook page, linktr.ee and website page by the same name for online shopping too.
