FAITH & VALUES

Blanket Creek

We were blessed Sunday with a beautiful piano special by Ms. Ramona Colvin.

Scripture was from John 8:31-36, “It’s More Than a Flag.” We watched a video reminding us that our freedom isn’t free. Besides these brave soldiers fighting for us, Jesus died on the cross to set us free from sin. Only the Word of God truly sets us free. Bring your kids to VBS July 28 - August 1, from  6-8:30 p.m. For a ride call 859-466-0234 or 859-654-5080. Food will be provided.

Greetings friends. When you come to a flood in your life are you willing to step aside, have faith and trust God? Life is hard sometimes but God is always there!

We are excited to welcome our scholarship recipient, Luke Gregg, next Sunday! So proud of this young man, he has big plans for his future. We will have a pot luck dinner in his honor after services.

We had many mentioned for our prayer list and also many praises were raised this Sunday. Please pray with us for our sick and rejoice with us for our praises.

We are very glad that our pastor Ron is feeling better.

Have a great week and remember to be kind.

Our children's camp went so well. Leaders, teen counselors and kids all enjoyed their week away to Maysville Wesleyan Church Camp.

Ladies lift (Ladies In Fellowship Together) was a huge blessing this week and our men's Fellowship was inspiring as well.

Our VBS runs 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., through Friday. It's gonna be great! We thank Rachel for her hours of work spent creating props for this event. It's a group effort for sure. We pray kid's hearts are touched in mighty ways this week.

"Heaven's Justice in a Noisy World," was the title of the message of the hour, using Micah 6:8 as text. We must do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly.

We are looking ahead to August 3 for an old-fashioned church picnic and a movie. More details forthcoming.

Bro. Mark’s message was from John 8:1-11. Jesus was at the temple at the Mount of Olives. A crowd soon gathered. As Jesus was speaking, the Scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery and placed her in front of the crowd. Moses’ law says to kill her. But Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. He stood and said go ahead and stone her until she dies. But only he who never sinned may throw the first. One by one they left and only Jesus was left with the woman. Jesus said where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you? No sir.  Neither do I, go and sin no more.

So Jesus forgave her.  "For I am the Light of this world. If you follow me you won’t be stumbling through darkness. Living light will flood your path."

Sunday school was an inspiring study of moving forward with faith. When have you done something bold and out of character for you, that can only be explained by having faith? In our lesson Sunday we looked at the life of Stephen, although it was cut short, his story highlights the importance of service and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our worship service looked a little different this week, with Bro. Dale, Ann, Tammy, Jeff and Rebecca gone to Crossings Camp with 15 youth. James Smith led with the welcome, announcements and prayer, we especially lifted Blake Smith-Beighle in prayer, he is leaving this week for basic training, he was sworn in to the Air Force on June 25.

Barry Stephens led the children’s message, and with a touch of magic explained how God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are three in one!

We were blessed to have Michael Leising bring the message. He is from Pendleton Co. and now going to school at Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. His message was “What God Has Done” from John 3:16-21. Michael put it so eloquently “God’s love is not wishy-washy love, it’s the source of our salvation.”
