FALMOUTH — Jeanna Gregg, Falmouth, has been shooting pool since she was 8 years old. Her father Gale Gregg, who also enjoys the sport, established his own pool hall to encourage Jeanna’s passion for the sport.
The 12-year-old Jeanna played in the 2025 Junior World All-Around pool tournament June 21 at Railyard Billiards & Sports Pub in Louisville.
Jeanna, the daughter of Gale Gregg and Desiray Chmura, was the youngest contender in the tournament.
According to her father, “she actually did great. She held her own. I was proud.”
The first match was a race to be the first one to win nine games. Jeanna won three.
She then went on to compete in a loser’s bracket vying to be the first to win seven games. She won one in that event. The young man Jeanna played against in the second match was “about 20 years old” according to Gale Gregg.
There were 40 participants from all over the United States, with only two females.
Jeanna has taken pool lessons from “multi-world champion Kristina ‘The Krystal’ Tkach” who was originally from Moscow, Russia but currently lives in Indiana.
Tkach’s boyfriend, also from Russia, “is basically the hottest pool player in the whole world right now,” Gregg said. “We’ve played in tournaments with them recently.”
Next plans for Jeanna include taking lessons from pro pool player and youth leader Dee Adkins and continuing to compete in tournaments.
Jeanna will hone her skills alongside her dad at their Mile Marker 44 pool room on Hayes Station Road, Falmouth.
