The Pendleton County Ladycats appear to have found their stride as they are now enjoying a season-best four game winning streak.
The team began last week hosting Notre Dame on April 22 and came away with a 3-1 win. Hannah Spaulding pitched a complete-game allowing just two hits and not issuing any walks. Aubrey Mullins and Kinly Cooper led the offense with two hits each. On April 23, the team traveled to Bracken County and won 12-8 in a high scoring affair. Spaulding racked up 14 hits during her start and senior Madison Verst delivered at the plate as she went 4-5 with a home run, double and five RBI's. Kinly Cooper went 3-5, Mylie Honnert had two hits and Spaulding also drove in three runs. The team would make it three straight for the week as they defeated Lewis County 8-4 on April 28. Cooper delivered two more hits plus two RBI's, Mullins had two hits while driving in two runs, Honnert along with Rylan Anderson added two hits each, and Spaulding finished with two runs driven in.
Ladycats head coach Jessica Verst believes patience and the willingness to make adjustments has led to the recent winning streak.
"The girls have done a great job of making adjustments early in the game in their at bats. Some our hits are finally starting to fall. They are improving every game and their confidence is building with every at bats. It should be an exciting rest of the season to watch," Verst said.
This week, the Ladycats will travel to face Scott High, Campbell County, and will end the week hosting Lexington Catholic, Ryle and Bethel, OH.
