On February 3,  five Wildcat bowlers competed in the Region 5 Singles competition.  In the boys division there were 35 bowlers which included Wildcats Braden Brann, Adam Straus and Kyan Brewer.  In the girls division there were 31 bowlers which included Pendleton's Maddie Marshall and Kree Brewer.

When the competition began each bowler competed in three regulation games with only the top eight in each division (boys/girls) moving on.  In the boys division Kyan Brewer ranked #1 with 670 pins, Branden Brann #10 with 586 pins and Adam Straus #16 with 505 pins. In the second round each of the top eight finishers from round one bowled two additional games which were added to their previous score.  Kyan Brewer was the only Pendleton County boy to move into round two.  Kyan bowled a 210 and 248 to end with a 1128 total pin fall.  The top four total pin fall bowlers from round two then moved into the stepladder part of the competition. In stepladder all totals were eliminated and the play changed to head to head bowling with the winner moving on and loser going home.  Due to Kyan's number one placement after the 5 regulation games, he moved directly into the finals against Tyler Blume from Simon Kenton.  Brewer went on to beat Blume 223-185 to become the Region 5 boys single champ.  This win was Kyan's third time to win the Region 5 Boys Singles Championship title setting a new school history in bowling.

In the girls division, Kree Brewer ranked #1 with a 534 and Maddie Marshall ranked #3 with a 527.  Kree and Maddie both made the top eight cut and moved on to bowl two additional regulation games.  After round 2, Kree was sitting #1 with an 893 total pin count and Maddie was #3 with an 838 total pin count.  By ranking #1 Kree earned a spot in the finals, while Maddie went head to head against R. Howell from Scott.  Marshall stayed the course and took down Howell 145-136.  Maddie then moved into the semi finals against #2 ranked Abby Sargent from Campbell.  Once again Maddie dug deep and put out Sargent 182-148.  Maddie then moved to the finals against teammate #1 ranked Kree Brewer.

In a great game between teammates, Kree Brewer took down Marshall 204-152 to win the Region 5 Single Girls Championship for the second year in a row. Marshall was also named Region 5 Single Girls Runner-Up.  Kyan Brewer, Kree Brewer and Maddie Marshall will all be competing at the state singles bowling finals next week.
