Ladycats split pair with Bluegrass United and Nicholas County, now 6-9 overall

The Ladycats basketball team now sits at a record of 6-9 on the regular season. The team picked up a win over Bluegrass United on January 14 and fell short to district foe Nicholas County on January 17.

In their 45-26 win over Bluegrass United, Lilly Ashcraft led all scorers and with 15 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals. Madison Verst followed up with 12 points, four steals, and four rebounds, going four of six from the three-point perimeter.   

The team competed in their first district game of the season at Nicholas County, where they lost 66-61 in overtime. Ashcraft led with 19 and sophomore Hannah Spaulding added 14, including her 500th career point during the loss. Nicholas County was led by sophomore Maggie Simons who poured in a career-high 49 points.

Fans have two opportunities to catch the Ladycats in action this week. The team travels to Beechwood on January 22. The Ladycats will return to their home floor on  January 24 when they take on Harrison County in their first district matchup against the Fillies this season. The Ladycats currently sit 0-1 in district play.
