BUTLER — On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Northern Elementary students trotted off for Thanksgiving break, the school held its annual Turkey Trot for students in grades K-5.
Children made their laps around the outside of the school in record time, trying to be the top turkey in their grade level.
Northern Family Youth Services Resource Center donated real turkeys for the top boy and top girl in each grade level. Second and third place winners received the “sides” of corn and stuffing, also provided by NfYSRC.
Top finishers were:
Kindergarten boys — Memphis McClanahan, first place, Weston Turner, second, Maverick Martin, third.
Kindergarten girls — Karly Hahn, first place, Annabelle Gibson, second, Rylee Feltner, third.
1st grade boys — Brody Speier, first place, Penn Gregg, second, Mattoxx Weier, third.
1st grade girls — Safeara Hardin, first place, Hadley Ramsey, second, Rivers Plummer, third.
2nd grade boys — Thatcher Weinel, first place, Dallas Baxter, second, Peyton Iles, third.
2nd grade girls — Evelyn Whaley, first place, Paris Dennie, second, Evy Stephens, third.
3rd grade boys — Konner Speier, first place, Holton King, second, Colton Weiland, third.
3rd grade girls — Mae Hesler, first place, Aliya Ashcraft, second, Joann Thornton, third.
4th grade boys — Lane Gosney, first place, Colton Myers, second, Sebastian Hoskins, third.
4th grade girls — Haven Daugherty, first place, Lydia Plummer, second, Piper Dennie, third.
