Donald Ray Wells, age 85, passed away on November 5, 2024. Born April 15, 1939 to James Newton and Catherine Davenport Wells in the Gumlick Community of Pendleton County, Kentucky.
He worked 14 years as the janitor of the Williamstown Methodist Church, was a staff member of both the Coates Funeral Home in Williamstown and of the Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home in Dry Ridge. Donald was also an employee of the Grant County News in the 1960s where he felt he completed his education. He was a member of the Williamstown Baptist Church where he served as an usher. A Kentucky Colonel and a Member of the Locust Grove Junior Order #176 in Williamstown.
Preceded in death by his parents and an aunt Aileen Wells Ducker, who adopted Donald, and his brother Clyde Ernest Wells. Also preceded in death by his uncle Harold Davenport; sister Dorothy Lee Kohake; brother Everett Eugene Wells; an aunt Mary Ann Carter. Nephews Jerry Patrick Wells of Corinth; Kevin Ray Wells of Crittenden. Nieces Nancy Ann Roberts of Lake Orion, MI; Donna Sue Coffman of Corinth; Diana Smith of Jonesville, KY; Damia Tullos of Ambler, PA; Michelle Wilson, Denna Ann Rassenfoss, DMD of Burlington; and Alisa Hunt of Delphia, KY. He is also survived by great numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 16, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at the Williamstown Baptist Church 214 N. Main St. Williamstown, KY, with Rev. David Wells presiding.
Interment will follow at the Gumlick Baptist Church Cemetery.
Family is in the care of Stith Funeral Home and Cremation Ctr., Florence, KY.
