John “J.W.” W. Crail, 92

John “J.W.” W. Crail, 92, of Alexandria, KY, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024. He was born in Newport, KY on November 25, 1931, son to the late Gilbert and Jessie Stephens Crail, he was raised by his grandparents J.J. and Clanzy Crail. In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Crail.

John was a veteran of the Korean War in the US Army and was proud to serve his country. John also worked on steam locomotive, the only welder on the Delta Queen Boat in Cincinnati, VFW Chaplin, and was the owner of Sweitzer Bros. He enjoyed farming, was active with the Plum Creek Food Share and attended Plum Creek Church for 76 years. He was a member of the VFW and was the past President of 5th RTC of Korea and Chaplin.

Survivors include his wife Retha Crail; sons Michael (Melanie) Crail, Daryl (Meg) Crail; brother Ronnie Crail; sister Carolyn Swope; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6 at Plum Creek Church. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m., also at the church.

Interment will take place at Butler Cemetery.
