Falmouth Baptist builds blessing box

FALMOUTH — When one of the Falmouth Baptist Church members suggested putting up a blessing box for the community, Pastor Evan Williams was all for it.

He said that he and his fellow church members knew that hunger was a concern in the community, and the church had been looking for ways to alleviate this.

After the church agreed to the plan, they recruited the RAs, GAs, and Youth to help with the project.

On Oct. 2, the blessing box was installed and filled with non-perishable food items.

The children worked with the group leaders and other helpers to construct and install the unit placed near the picnic shelter adjacent to the church parking lot.

FBC’s plan is to keep the box stocked for the public to access free of charge.

Eventually, they hope to add more items such as feminine hygiene items, Williams said.

Already the Blessing Box has been accessed and refilled.

Falmouth Baptist Church also has a donation of freezer food items for the community. Anyone who wishes to pick up some frozen foods may call the church at 859-654-3177, Williams said.

The church, 403 Maple Ave., provides free meals on 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, followed by a prayer service and classes for children and youth.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. Sundays, with worship at 10:45, and a 6:30 p.m. evening service.

A church van provides transportation to the church meetings. Call the church number for a ride.
