Lawrence Earl McElfresh, 88

Lawrence Earl McElfresh, 88, of Butler, Kentucky, passed away on August 16, 2024. Lawrence was born on October 13, 1935, to Goldie and Pearcy McElfresh on a farm outside Butler, Kentucky.

Upon graduating from Butler High School in 1954, Lawrence went on to enlist in the army. He was stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, for basic training and was honorably discharged in February 1963. He started his first job at Dracket in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then went on to work at Kenner Toy, also in Cincinnati, where he was promoted to foreman. Later he was employed at Grandpa Brands in Erlanger, Kentucky, also in the role as foreman. He worked at Grandpa Brands until his retirement.

Lawrence married Jacqueline Brennenstuhl of Butler, Kentucky, in 1958. They were married 56 years. Lawrence was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Club in Highland Heights, Kentucky. He also was awarded the proud title of Kentucky Colonel. Lawrence was a member of Flour Creek Christian Church in Butler, Kentucky. He enjoyed boating on Dale Hollow Lake, Cumberland Lake and the Ohio River.

The last years of Lawrence’s life were spent at The Seasons at Alexandria where he enjoyed gardening and feeding the squirrels and the birds both in the courtyard and outside his window. He had many friends and family who will miss his gentle spirit.

Lawrence was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline Mae Brennenstuhl, parents Goldie and Pearcy McElfresh and brother Ronald Edwin McElfresh.

He is survived by sister Brenda Bevan of Lakeside Park, Kentucky, Gerald (Brenda) McElfresh of Butler, Kentucky, Roger (Sheila) McElfresh of Butler, Kentucky, Jeffery McElfresh of Falmouth, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler, Kentucky on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Highway159, Butler, Kentucky, immediately following visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Flour Creek Christian Church, Butler, Kentucky.
