Verna Mae Payne, 93, of Butler, KY passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at River Valley Nursing Home. Verna was born in St. Henry, Ohio on January 19, 1931, the daughter of the late Bertrand and Gertrude Rafferty Myers.
Verna was married to Earl (Pud) Payne, who preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and nephews, friends from the Church, and her community. Verna was preceded in death by her brothers Lowell Myers, Lewis Myers, and sister Shirley Baker. Verna was a longstanding St. Matthew Catholic Church member in Morning View, KY, where she attended Mass and said countless rosaries! She ran a restaurant in Butler for many years and enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon on Saturday, August 24, at the St. Matthew Catholic Church, 13782 Decoursey Pike, Morning View, KY 41063 with Reverend Jacob Straub officiating. A brief visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the time of the service under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home.
