FALMOUTH — All eight Pendleton County scholars from the Crittenden Baptist Association who participated in the Kentucky Baptist Convention State Bible Drill Saturday May 4 in Richmond won  state level distinction.

The event featured 79 children in fourth to sixth grades from Knoxville, Mount Carmel and Turner Ridge Baptist Churches, as well as from many other churches across Central Kentucky.

Participants had to learn all 66 books of the Bible and be able to locate them within 10 seconds; memorize 25 verses and their references; and learn the names, references and locations of 10 key passages.

Prior to the state drill, the children participated in their individual churches and an association drill.

Pendleton County competitors were Presley Platt and Perry Gregg of Turner Ridge Baptist Church, Falmouth; Lillian Courtney, Landon Courtney and Elias Jones of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Williamstown; and Hannah Gullion, Joe Seabrooke and Josiah Gullion of Knoxville Baptist Church, Williamstown.

Churches soon will be starting practices for the 2025 Bible drill cycle. Anyone wishing to participate may contact Turner Ridge, Mount Carmel or Knoxville churches, or may start a Bible drill in their own church by going to kybaptist.org to get started.
