Have you ever dreamed of meeting a Unicorn? As a little girl we dream of meeting our Prince Charming, Love, Butterflies and sometimes even Unicorns. Well part of that dream came true for some and it was as magical as dreamed and then some.
Sara and Taylor Fryman along with their parents, Heather and Jeff Fryman have a Unicorn on their farm somewhere in Harrison County. Not many people have met her because she stays with her horse friends and tries to blend in, however, on this one special day several little girls were about to meet the Unicorn and have their dreams come true. The Fryman family have an Aunt with a horse farm in a little unknown area in Nicholas County and this special day had been planned out and arranged by the Fryman family along with their Aunt. This one day of the year the Unicorn was transported to the horse farm to meet and play with this other group of horses. It was so magical and the excitement filled the air. Unicorns are naturally shy and not particularly fond of crowds, so parents had made their appointment times to bring their little girls to the Fantasy themed farm to not only meet the Unicorn, but to also feed her, pet her, and have their picture taken while sitting upon her.
What a great time was had by the girls, their parents, and even a little brother in one particular family. But why was this happening and how was this opportunity possible?
Well, Ms. Sara Fryman has been participating in pageants for a very long time and has done very well with being crowned many, many times. Sara, 14 and her sister Taylor, 18, have always had a love for animals. They have been showing rabbits, horses, and other animals at events all around. Their parents, Jeff and Heather Fryman, have continually been very supportive of the girls and not only encouraged the girls to participate in events, but have spent a great deal of their busy lives helping take care of animals and transporting them to all the various places events.
Sara, as a pageant participant, wanted a platform she could use to help others. She started small by collecting toys for rooms at her mom’s offices at the Pendleton, Harrison, Robertson and Nicholas County Justice Centers. Yes, Heather Fryman is indeed the Family Court Judge in these counties. Sara has a soft heart for children, so she created toy rooms in which every child/young person who appeared in Judge Fryman’s Court was given the opportunity to visit the Toy Room and select a toy just for him or her to keep as their very own.
This special Unicorn event was used as a fundraiser for a monetary donation to the Sunshine Project of Give Kids the World Village, located in Kissimmee Florida. This project is an 89 acre non-profit resort that provides week-long, cost-free vacations for children with critical illnesses, and their families. Sara’s event raised $400 with $300 going to the sunshine project and $100 being used for Christmas Angel this year.
The fantasy theme was inspired from the imaginations of Sarah, her sister, Taylor, and their mom. Taylor was dressed in renaissance attire as she shared with the children participating. Some ground rules were laid out for the safety of the children and consisted of, don’t touch the horn, or it will lose its magic, don’t touch the feet, so you won’t be stepped on, don’t pull on the mane, be as quiet as you can, stay in front of the Unicorn and no running around because it might spook her, all of which was just your basic unicorn safety. All of the children were very considerate of the Unicorn and all of the other horses that came down to the fence because they knew treats were involved.
I think you’ll agree it was a wonderful event when you look at the pictures below. Unicorns have always held magic for little girls and boys, and maybe event the parents. A big thank you to Sarah, Taylor, Heather and Jeff for making dreams come true.
