Last week, Judge David Pribble and his wife Ginny were visited by Governor Martha Layne Collins, the first and only female governor of Kentucky. Collins served as governor from 1983-1987.
Pribble, who served as Pendleton County Judge Executive from 1974-1994 had been wanting to see his longtime friend from the past, and his daughter made it happen. After some investigative work to track down the Collins’ phone number, she contacted Governor Collins and asked if it would be possible for her parents to meet up with the Collins in Lexington. The governor decided to come out to Pendleton County instead, and the two families had a wonderful time visiting and reminiscing. They also enjoyed some homemade ice cream and a blackberry cake from Grammy Tammy’s.
“They are such nice, down to earth people,” according to Schafer.
After the company had left, her daughter laughingly told the judge, “Happy Birthday”. She went on to say that the visit was his birthday gift, since Judge Pribble will be turning 91 next month.
