Robert “Bob” L Wolfe, 93, died Saturday, July 15, peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
He was born on December 6, 1929 at home in Pendleton County, Kentucky to the late James Frances Wolfe and Mary Ruth (Simpson) Wolfe. He was an avid outdoorsman, and spent most of his life as a farmer, although he worked a full-time job as well, retiring after 32 years from General Electric where he worked as a machinist. He loved playing cards, fishing, boating, camping, but mostly spending time with family and friends. He was the second born child with 10 siblings. He was a member of Chatham Christian Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army 7th Infantry Division. He served in Korea as a medic in a MASH unit from March 1951 through May 1952.
He was preceded in death by his first wife in 2002, Shirley Buerkley Wolfe, the mother of his seven children, after almost 48 years of marriage. In addition, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Mary Jane Cooper, in 2021, whom he was happily married to for over 11 years.
He is survived by six of his children, David Wolfe of Falmouth, KY, Mary Ann (Will) Banks of Connersville, IN, Barbara O’Connor of Falmouth, KY, BettyLou Ulmer, Patricia (Mike) Elliott, and Sara (Peter) Reininger, all of Foster, KY. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Kevin (Sarah) Wolfe, Randall Scott (Kristin) Kersey, Glen Robert Kersey, James Kersey, Ivory (Cassandra) Chandler, Larry Chandler, Johnathon Chandler, Stephen Thomas (Melissa) Ayres, Penne Clos, Ryne (Elizabeth) Clos, Jessica (Joe) Snow, Heather (Matthew) Elliott, Melissa (Fred) Duncan, Brittney Elliott, Cassie (Adam) Barnjum, Brandi
Wilson, Tawny (John) Bjurquist; 36 great-grandchildren, Kayla (Matt) Maynard, Jarrod Wolfe, Nathan (Chelsea) Norton, Noah Barnard; Ellison (Kalem) Gosney, Rebekkah Kersey, Joshua Kersey, Colin Kersey, Gabrielle Kersey, Natalie Grimes, Ethan Kersey, Amelia Chandler, Brooklyn Chandler, Johnathon Jr. Chandler, Carson Chandler, Scarlett Chandler, Kyla Ayres, Jada Ayres, Thomas Ayres, Berkley Clos, Anna Clos, Liam Snow, Lucy Snow, Finnegan Snow, Kohl Lippert, Kamden Lippert, Kyleigh Lippert, Tristan Carter Story, Donovan Duncan, Dalton Napier, Olivia Napier, Zoey Goolsby, Gabriel Goolsby, Bentley Barnjum, Hudson Barnjum, and Illyza Wilson; and five great great-grandchildren: Mallory Maynard, Korbin Maynard, Delilah Dickerson, Hudsen Kersey, and Ava Kersey. Besides immediate family, he also leaves behind most cherished family members from his second marriage: Charlene Griffith, Sharon Cooper, Shelley (Ronnie) Quillen, Janie (Tony) Luther; Hannah Applegate; Sarah Quillen; Maddie Luther, Taylor Luther, and Julia Luther. He is survived by three siblings, Wilma Bonar of Butler, KY, Dale (Brenda) Wolfe of Brooksville, KY, and Marilyn (Rich) Robertson of Alexandria, KY.
Besides both his wives, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Wolfe; a granddaughter, Teresa Barnard; two great-great grandchildren: Grace Maynard and Karter Maynard; daughter-in-law: Phyllis Wolfe; brothers: Ray Wolfe, James Wolfe, Carol Wolfe, Joe Wolfe, Earl Wolfe; sisters: Joyce Webster and Joan Fields. He was much loved and will be dearly missed.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Moore & Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. preceding the funeral on Wednesday.
Interment will take place at Lenoxburg Cemetery.
