Asbury revival inspires local night of prayer

By Brenda Higgins

Butler Methodist Church opened the church doors on the evening of Friday, February 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and invited anyone who wanted to come in and pray. The lights were dimmed, worship music was playing softly, and the mood was very calming as a small crowd spread throughout the sanctuary to pray for whatever or whoever was on their hearts.

In speaking with the Pastor of the church, Brother Ron Schwarberg, he stated that by opening the doors, he is praying it will spark a “ripple effect that will grow and spread throughout the county and the nation.” He went on to state that he is “hoping for a revival” and that this was a “good way to kick off lent.”

A member of the congregation, Nancy Kyle, went to the alter to pray. When asked what was on her heart, she said that this was “an opportunity to come out and pray for all of the things going on in the world today.” Kyle stated she and her husband attend church there, she is the church secretary, and also plays the piano for church services. They were supportive of the doors being opened for prayer.

Let’s hope you had an opportunity to participate in this time of prayer.
