Silent Nights

Snow softly falling…chestnuts on an open fire…silent night.
These and so many more are concepts that are tied to the Christmas Holiday, attempting to create the elusive “Christmas Spirit”. Hoping for calm…but instead finding chaos. Wishing for stillness…but instead finding exhaustion. Searching for peace…but instead finding turmoil. We try…but silent nights are hard to come by for some.
However, there are some who are wishing their Silent Nights weren’t so silent. It’s as if the sound of silence is deafening. Wanting one more conversation…one more laugh at a bad joke….one more greeting of Merry Christmas. Many have found their silent night….and it’s not at all like the advertisements promise.
Silence….when you need some advice for how to move forward.
Silence….when you need to share what’s on your mind.
Silence…when you need answers to the tough questions.
Some are searching for it, and others live it every day. Some of the hardest, and best lessons are learned in those silent nights.
We learn priorities. We learn to take nothing for granted. We learn to appreciate what is before us.
And may those lessons help us celebrate the season before us. And ultimately lead us to the gift we need this Christmas….Healing out Loud. -- Merry Christmas!
