Harold Thomas Ammerman, 87

Harold Thomas “Tommy” Ammerman, 87, of Dry Ridge, formerly of Pendleton County, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022.

He was born in Pendleton County on June 17, 1935, son of the late Charles and Viola Wilson Ammerman.

Tommy was a long time Pendleton farmer, a member of Short Creek Baptist Church where he was a former Chairman of Deacons, assistant of the women’s Sunday school class, former church treasurer and former Sunday school director. He was very active with the Gideons, where he was president of the Pendleton County camp, former follow up leader in starting new camps, speaker in churches, and active in Pendleton County jail ministry when Pendleton had a jail. He was the director and president of the Pendleton County Farm Bureau, educational association chapter member, and former treasurer. He was also a former moderator of the Union Association of Baptist and former moderator of the Crittenden Association of Baptist, former Judge of Pendleton and Grant County Foxhunters, former director of Federal Land Bank, soil conservationist of the year winner, former community A.S.C.S. Chairman, former President of Morgan School Alumni, chapter member of Pendleton County Hospital Board, former president of P.C. Basket Ball Booster Club, and former water commissioner and secretary of P.C. Water.

In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his wife Ann Cummins Ammerman; brothers Henry Ammerman and Buddy Ammerman; sisters Lillian Hart and Kathryn Moore.

Survivors include his sons Gil (Cindy) Ammerman and Steve (Tammy) Ammerman; daughter Gay (Barry) Napier; brothers Robert “Bob” Ammerman and Terry Ammerman; grandchildren Heather (Stephen) Mann, Wade (Kelly) Napier, Brentany (Damon) Slaton, Stephanie (Kyle) Stout, Mallory (Joby) Brewer; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Sunday, October16, 2022 at Short Creek Baptist Church under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home.

Interment took place at the Short Creek Cemetery.
