Marlena Rae Barcus Gosney, 43, of Williamstown, KY, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at her home.
She was born on March 20, 1979 in Louisville, KY to the late Thomas and Judith Witten Barcus. On June 18, 2022 she would marry her soul mate and best friend India Gosney and together they would cherish many great memories together. Marlena was an award-winning diver and swimmer at the University of Northern Michigan. She also earned her MBA degree from Midway College and worked for Great American Insurance Company in the Equine Mortality Department. She loved her work family and appreciated all the friendships she developed there. For Marlena, she lived life to the full and was an avid sports fan. She was a volunteer at Milestones Equestrian Achievement Program and enjoyed traveling the world, including trips to London, England and Beijing, China. Marlena loved animals, and none more than her cherished pets: Zenyatta Lucille (Zenny), Baloo Merle, Rudy Ray, Char Louie, Daphne Faye. She was a great friend with a beautiful soul, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Marlena was preceded in death by her parents as well as her mother-in-law Carol Gosney.
Along with her wife, India, Marlena is survived by her brother Christopher Hagen of Madison, WI; Father-in-law Dennis Gosney; Sisters in law Delana (Mike) Robinson and Jana (Matt) LaFollette; and a brother-in-law Brent (Martha) Gosney, all of Falmouth, KY. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth, KY, on Sunday September 18, 2022 with Kevin Barnard officiating. The visitation preceded the service.
Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth.
