Joseph Eldon Ryan, 89, of Falmouth, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.
He was born in Falmouth on November 9, 1931, son to the late Leo and Mabel Mains Ryan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter in law, Ann Moore Ryan; and brothers Jim, Charlie, Pat, Ralph, and Donnie.
Joe lived nearly all his life in Pendleton County and was an active member of Southern Hope Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran, serving two years during the Korean War. After his military service, he began a 40-year career with Mead Containers in Norwood, OH, commuting daily from his home in Pendleton County. After retirement, Joe enjoyed traveling, including multiple trios to Gatlinburg, TN and Branson, MO. In addition to spending time with his family, Joe loved following UK basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and the national political news of the day.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Grace Carr Ryan, and their three children: Sandy (Steve) Thomas, Donna (Tim) Hickerson, and Ed (Ellen) Ryann. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his sister Elaine Cox.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 13, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Thefuneral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. also at the funeral home with Jason Anderson officiating.
Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery with full military honors.
