“The pool is ready,” states Sebastian Ernst, The opening of the pool requires weeks of preparation in order to be ready for Memorial Day weekend. Ernst states that although draining, cleaning, filing and treating a pool sounds simple enough, it’s anything but. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the East Pendleton Water District and our very own Maintenance Crew.”
This past week, the pontoons went into the water along with four canoes, and they are expecting to have kayaks in the near future. Those, along with the motor boats and John boats, will be ready for rental on Memorial Day weekend. The park also the pool, putt putt golf, picnic areas, camp grounds and nine hole golf course, to name a few.
Ernst was asked what he felt it would take to get Kincaid Lake to be a booming park, and he stated, “A strong marketing campaign will be essential in broadcasting out products and services. I have plans to improve each of these departments in their own unique way.” He was speaking about the pool area, putt putt golf, picnic areas, camp grounds and any other space offered for public use.
Ernst’s favorite part of the park is the pool area, but the smell of campfires and cookouts is a close second. His least favorite is seeing the state of some of the facilities, but that’s being worked on. “It’s easy to get caught up in the daily business required to keep the park running, but being able to work this close to nature is a blessing.”
When asked what Ernst saw happening with Kincaid Lake State Park in, say, five years from now, he stated the truth. “I don’t know just yet. There are a lot of possibilities that need to be explored. One thing I’d like to push for are small cabin rentals. This would open up camping to a whole new demographic”
So while you’re looking for a place to go and have fun with lots of things to do this Memorial Day weekend, consider Kincaid Lake State Park with the pool and all of the other amenities the park has to offer.
