Blaney late race win, Hemric vs Gragson on undercard, Bristol Dirt Nationals

Kyle Busch led entire race his 60th truck series win and his 6th win at Atlanta flew in from Bristol this morning jumping back on plane to race Bristol Saturday night where he finished 11th in his Late Model.
The Xfinity race was a little on the mundane side as Martin Truex Jr. , who hasn’t driven an Xfinity car in over 10 years, dominated the race and was on the way to a win when fare struck and he was penalized for speeding on pit road and had to restart from the rear. Although he worked his way back up towards the front he could never get his car back in clean air and catch up with race even net Justin Allgaier. The most excitement in the race occurred when Noah Gragson, who was not in his pit properly, slammed it in reverse and backed into Daniel Hemric , who was in his pit stop. The excitement didn’t stop there as Hemric went after Gragson after the race while he was being interviewed. Punches were thrown between the two as pit crew and officials separated them. As I’ve said before someone is going to put Gragson into the wall in a race or knock his jaw off in the pits.
Kyle Larson did everything right at Atlanta except win. He won both stage one and two and seemed on cruise control in stage three. Ryan Blaney had a different idea as he and his team kept making adjustments and digging on the slick asphalt hard. At one point near the end of the third stage he was mire than two seconds behind Larson. Joey Logano gave a little help as he made it difficult for Larson to move around him giving his teammate Blaney time to close the gap and move into the lead as it seemed Larson’s tires started dropping off. Also Blaney worked the booth for Fox Sports on Saturday for both the truck and Xfinity race so maybe he saw something he took advantage of on Sunday. Blaney is the sixth different winner this season. On to the dirt at Bristol!
Bristol Dirt National results: Austin Dillon won the 604 Late Model class. Jonathan Davenport won the Super Late Models. Kyle Larson finished second as Scott Bloomquist took third. For some reason the results for the open modified are still pending and no winner announced yet.
Lucas Oil Late Models raced at Atomic Speedway in Ohio this weekend in the Buckeye Spring 50 where Hudson O’Neal held off Tim McCreadie and Devin Moran for the win. They ran heat races and then put all 29 cars in the feature. Kyle Strickler started on the pole, but ended up 25th in the feature after blowing out a tire.
The World of Outlaws were off this weekend and head into a three race stretch starting in March 26 - 27 at Cherokee then Farmer City on April 2-3 and finish up at Bristol on April 9-10 that will pay out over $100,000.
Winged WoO Sprints were racing the Texas Two Step at the Cotton Bowl Speedway this weekend and Brand Sweet took advantage of Jacob Allen flipping his car while in the lead to pick up his second win of the season. Sweet led 28 of 30 laps and joins Sheldon Haudenschild as the only two time winners this season. Sweet’s Kasey Kahneteam has been competitive all season and probably will win a few more races this year.. The Outlaws now head to Missouri for a doubleheader this weekend.Friday they will be at US-36 Raceway and Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway.
