Volleyball battle the Lady Saints in regional action

Ladycat Volleyball went into region play looking to secure the program’s first win ever at region. They were facing St. Pat a team they just played a couple of weeks ago. St. Pat is fielding one of its strongest teams in recent memory and accumulated a 19-2 record.
Coach Danielle French had already commented earlier on how important it was for her team to defend and have a good serving game.
St. Pat started hot right from the whistle, moving out to a 7-3 lead. A few errors later and the score stood at 16-9. The Ladycats were able to right the ship and fought back to tie it at 21, but could never move into the lead. This is the closest they would come on the night as the Lady Saints scored four of the last five points to get the win at 25-22.
Again the Lady Saints humped out to a quick lead in the second set at 11-6. The Ladycats fought themselves out of a hole with St. Pat committing errors and tied the score at 15. After a few back and forth possessions the Lady Saints went on a 7-0 run to capture the set at 25-19.
The third set started off hard fought with both teams bring their best. At one point the set was tied eight all, but then the Lady Saints began to chip away and slowly increase their lead and pulled out a 25-16 win and the chance to moveon in the tournament where they will now face Campbell County.
Looking back over the season senior Emma Reid commented, “My senior year all around has been different than I expected and my senior volleyball season was no exception. I am grateful that I got to have a season at all to be quite honest. My fellow seniors are friends that I have been blessed to have been on the court with since sixth or seventh grade. We have been able to see each other grow as players and individuals. This game is something that was introduced to me at a young age and, as I have played through middle and high school, I have learned so much, not just about volleyball but life skills and lessons. I plan to use those lessons in the next chapters of my life.”
The Ladycats completed their season at 12-7 and Coach French will look at building the progam next season to be even more successful.
