Wildcats silence St. Pat and Paris

The Pendleton County High School Wildcats soccer team played two home games last week and defeated St. Patrick 9-1 last Monday, September 21 and shutout Paris 2-0 last Wednesday.
Wildcats head coach Brian Adams said that the lopsided score from the St. Patrick game tells a different story from the actual game. It was far from their best performance this season.
“We had a few talking points at halftime and credit to my players, we came out and executed in the second 40 minutes,” Coach Adams said. “Scoring nine goals is always going to be helpful for the players confidence, and we’re trying to let the results from this week get us moving in the right direction for the back part of the season.”
Senior Danny Miracle pulled off the hat trick and scored three goals and added an assist in the victory. Senior Noah Barnard also scored a goal and had two assists.
PC next played Paris, and again they kept their opponent off the board and goals by seniors Tyler Caudill and Barnard helped preserve the 2-0 victory.
“I was pretty pleased with the match against Paris,” Coach Adams explained. “We were able to build on some things we have been working on in terms of build up play and possession, and it was really nice to get our first clean sheet of the season.”
Adams went on to say that his defense has played really well so far, and it’s good for them to have evidence in the scoreline of that work. He said the result was never really in questions.
The Wildcats finished up the week with a road game against Harrison County last Thursday. PC couldn’t find the net in this game and lost the game by a score of 3-0.
“Sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way, and that is exactly what happened against Harrison County,” Coach Adams explained. “We conceded three goals that nine times out of 10 wouldn’t have been converted. We had a majority of the possession and more shots than our opponents.”
Adams continued, “We were able to continue to build on our possession play and denying any clear-cut chances for the opponent. We still have some work to do in the final third of the field and in chance creation, but my player’s attitude and application was spot on for the match.”
The Wildcats will be on the road against Mason County on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and then play a home game against Fleming County Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
