Falmouth PD
FALMOUTH — The Falmouth Police Department continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to professionalism and public safety, receiving an impressive 80% rating in the most recent Law Enforcement Loss Control Survey conducted by Kentucky League of Cities’ Insurance Services on May 7, according to police Chief Marty Hart.
The department’s performance places it in the top tier of agencies surveyed, qualifying the city for a 12% insurance credit during its next renewal.
This marks a significant milestone for Falmouth’s law enforcement team, underscoring not just compliance — but excellence — in key operational areas, Hart said.
SAFETY PRACTICES
From vehicle operations and pursuit procedures to ethics and critical incident response, the Falmouth PD displayed consistent adherence to the Kentucky League of Cities’ model policies, Hart said.
Particularly notable is the department’s full compliance with pursuit reporting, driving training aligned with House Bill 298, and facility security enhancements including surveillance systems and bullet-resistant safeguards.
The department also shines in leadership and training, maintaining accreditation through the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police and implementing a formal Field Training Officer program for new recruits, he said.
TRANSPARENCY
With body-worn cameras, a clearly defined policy for community engagement and procedures for citizen complaints, the department is reaffirming its commitment to both transparency and public trust, Hart said.
“Our officers continually strive to improve safety and accountability, this score reflects our focus on readiness, training, and professional service,” he said.
GROWTH AHEAD
While the report identified a few areas for improvement, including simulator training and the implementation of a formal Law Enforcement Safety Committee, the department has already begun reviewing Kentucky League of Cities’ recommendations to further enhance its procedures, the chief said.
“Falmouth residents can take pride in knowing their police department is operating at a high standard, with zero percent loss ratios reported over both one- and three-year spans — a testament to effective risk mitigation and operational integrity,” Hart said.
Falmouth’s finest are setting the bar high, he said.
