Primaries set the stage for November election

County Clerk Rita Spencer's office was full of election hopefuls and party representatives as well as supporters and just interested onlookers as the primary ballots were counted Tuesday night.

With an estimated 21 percent voter turnout, local results were as follow:

Sheriff: Brewer 1007, Quinn 631

District 1: Whaley 224, Taylor 84

District 2: Plummer 285, Nordheim 184, B. Gregg 99

District 3: D. Gregg 175, Gosney 165

District 4: Askin 145, Kimmel 126, Foster 99

Constable: Edgley 199, Dougherty 153

State Senate: Frommeyer 545, Neal 532, Robinson 441

Republican US Senate winner was Rand Paul by a hearty margin

Democratic US Senate winner was Charles booker who surpassed John Merrill in the county by an even 40 votes.
