A win for community wellness and recreation
Falmouth, KY – Kincaid Lake State Park is now home to brand-new pickleball courts, thanks to a generous donation from the R.C. Durr Foundation and the collaborative efforts of local partners. This exciting addition to the park promotes fun, fitness, and community connection.
The project was spearheaded by Kenna Knight, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent with the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension, and Natasha Trauth with the Three Rivers District Health Department. Their shared vision and perseverance, along with Project Coordinator for Kincaid Lake State Park Meredith Crawford , brought this recreational resource to life.
Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S., is a fun and social game that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It's accessible to people of all ages and skill levels—making it a perfect addition to the park’s offerings.
The courts are now open to the public, and the community is invited to join the official opening celebration on July 8 at 9:00 AM, which will include a “Pickleball 101” lesson for beginners. The first 20 people who register for the event will receive a free pickleball paddle set to help them get started.
To register, call (859) 654-3395. Whether you're a seasoned player or a total beginner, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn, play, and connect.
