After planning for over one and a half years, our renovation project is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 9.  We will be posting updates throughout the renovation on our Facebook page so the community can see the progression.

For those who are not familiar with the plans, I would like to take this opportunity to explain what changes will be taking place. First and foremost, I want to make sure the community understands we are not eliminating anything that we currently offer. This renovation is to expand what we offer. We will be adding three study/meeting rooms that can be reserved for use, just like the one current meeting room we have. We will also be adding a Teen Area that will be designed specifically with our teens in mind to give them a relaxing place to hang out. And last but certainly not least, we will be adding a Maker Space for use by our community.  This space will offer an engraver, 3D printers, vinyl cutters, large poster printer, and a large laminator, among other things.

We will not be adding any square footage to the library. No outside walls will be moved or adjusted. We are changing the floor plan to make better use of our facility. This renovation was anticipated when our library was built. Changes in the needs and wants of the community can and should dictate what our library offers. We have taken these changes into consideration, as well as input from many patrons, local officials, and our board members.

This project is scheduled to be completed in 120 days. For the safety of our patrons during the renovation, the library will be closed to all in-person services until the renovation is complete. We invite everyone to utilize our drive-thru for services. All items and services are still available to our community. One-on-one tech assists, genealogy assists, and passport services will all still be available by appointment only. Items can be reserved by logging into “My Account” on our website and/or calling the library at 859.654.8535. We would be happy to have your reserved items ready for pick up through the drive-thru.

All scheduled library programs will be relocated to various locations within our community. The Senior Adult Bingo will take place at the Pendleton County Senior Center, Southern Hope Church of Christ will be hosting the October Library Board of Trustees meeting, and the Pendleton County Extension Office will be hosting most of our other programs.

We encourage everyone to watch our Facebook page and library web page at www.pcplibrary.org for program information updates and renovation progress updates.

We look forward to sharing our new additions with you when the renovation is complete. Thank you for your understanding. As always, the community is invited to attend our monthly Board of Trustees meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.  The October 19 meeting will take place in the basement of the Southern Hope Church of Christ, located at 20 Southside Church Road, Falmouth, KY, and is a specially called meeting.
